Make Your Voice Heard. Vote!
FSAC is launching a new election process, one that ensures a greater voice for FSAC members!
Historically, members of the FSAC Board of Directors were appointed by the provincial funeral organizations. The new election process allows FSAC members to nominate and vote for their provincial representative on the FSAC Board of Directors.
This year, elections will be held in four provinces: British Columbia, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.
Who is eligible to participate?
The election is open to all FSAC members in good standing.
You must be a current member in good standing in order to nominate a candidate and vote in the election.
If you wish to serve as your province’s representative to the FSAC Board, you must be an FSAC member in good standing AND a member of your provincial funeral association.
(If you are unsure of your membership status, please contact the FSAC office.)
How will the election work?
FSAC will be issuing a call for nominations to all FSAC members in the four provinces listed above in March.
The deadline to nominate a candidate for the election will be 30 days later. Login to the member's only section for a copy of this year's nomination form.
In provinces where more than one candidate is identified, ballots will be sent to FSAC members in that province to select the provinces nominee. Completed ballots must be returned to the office within 30 days of the ballots being issued.
One nominee from each province will be added to the slate for election by the members at the FSAC Annual General Meeting in Charlottetown, PE.
Thinking of standing as a nominee for the 2017 election? What you need to know:
Congratulations! Committed, passionate funeral professionals are essential to FSAC’s success. We need dedicated volunteers to serve on our committees and on our Board of Directors.
Board members are required to attend four (4) Board meetings each year. Travel is required as these meetings are held in Ottawa and other Canadian cities. Board members must attend the FSAC Annual Convention. They also chair one or more FSAC committees. In addition, Board members liaise with their provincial funeral association.
As a Board member, you will shape the funeral profession at a national level. You can pursue your interest in education, government affairs, communications and other issues by managing FSAC committees.
If you want to learn more about serving on the FSAC Board of Directors, please contact your provincial representative. Contact information for Board members is posted on the FSAC website on the Board of Directors page.
Why should I get involved?
The new election format is convenient, exciting and democratic. However, democracy doesn’t work if people don’t vote!
The individuals serving on the FSAC Board of Directors represent your profession, your values and your interests on a national stage. Have a say in who will represent you.
Ensure your voice is heard. Vote!
